When the Carver 36 Aft Cabin was introduced in 1982, she was the biggest boat ever built by Carver. Immediately successful, she was built on a "dual mode" trawler-style hull, meaning that it can runn efficiently at slow 7-8 knot displacement speeds and still plane out when the throttles are fully applied. While the 36 isn't a fast boat, her interior accommodations are roomy and well-suited to the needs of family cruisers. Her conventional double-cabin floorplan features a large master stateroom aft with a tub/shower in the adjoining head compartment. A lower helm was standard and the galley and dinette are both down form the salon level. Outside, the raised aft deck platform is large enough for a few folding chairs, and the bridge is only three steps removed with additional guest seating.
