Hot on the heels of introducing its innovative new 4050 Express Motoryacht, now known as the 405, in spring 2002, Cruisers Yachts launched two new express yachts at its July dealer meeting, held at Stone Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. For the 2004 model year, the sisterships have been rechristened the 400 Express and the 440 Express, and their innovative designs have garnered significant attention. According to Don DePouw, Vice President of Marketing, these luxurious yachts are the next generation for the company's express line, building upon Cruisers Yachts' strong heritage as an express builder and taking it a step further.

"The design and performance of these models will surpass customer expections for express yachts," he said, "but we've also created the 400 and 440 to satisfy the most discriminating cruiser. The layout and amenities aboard each yacht will guarantee that those seeking performance and those seeking live-aboard comfort will be equally thrilled."

Topside, the new 400 Express is perfect for enjoying quality time on the water with friends and family. From the double helm seat and companion helm lounge to the large wrap-around cockpit seating aft, all on board will have plenty of space to stretch out and enjoy the ride. And, state-of-the-art technology and ergonomically designed controls at the helm will make driving this beauty a pleasure. She also offers convenient foredeck access with a cabin walk-around and molded-in steps to a walk-through windshield.The standard integrated swim platform, sunlounge/table, cockpit shower and cockpit refrigerator or ice maker will be welcome amenities on warm summer days. A Bimini top or optional hardtop with sunroof guarantees shady places for a nap and, in the event of inclement weather, a camper top and side curtains will keep everyone out of the elements.

Below deck, the 400 Express truly shines. The natural cherry wood interior creates a warm ambience that is ideal for cozy evenings or rainy days, and the 6 feet, 5 inches of headroom is more similar to that of a motoryacht than an express. The roomy salon area features a crescent-shaped convertible dinette/sofa, a ventilated skylight with screens, a state-of-the-art stereo with single CD player and helm remote, a six-disc changer and a deluxe flat-screen TV with DVD. The full-service galley has all the appointments necessary for live-aboard cruising, offering a large refrigerator/freezer, a microwave oven and plenty of work space and storage.

The forward stateroom area incorporates a large island berth with easy access from either side, spacious lockers and a ventilated skylight with screens. Even better, Cruisers Yachts has designed the 400's forward spaces to have a feature truly unique in the express category: The shower compartment is separate from the head; they occupy spaces opposite one another just aft of the forward stateroom, which also has private access to the head compartment.

Aft of the salon and galley, the 400 Express offers another special bonus. Cruisers Yachts has designed the yacht with two interior layouts, so each customer will have a choice. The primary layout features a comfortable settee/sleeper in its amidship cabin area, lending to the open feel of the salon. A second head lies just to port of the settee, with a sink and vanity located outside the head compartment door for increased convenience if overnight guests will be using this space as overnight accommodations. A privacy curtain provides additional privacy.

The alternate layout features this area enclosed entirely behind a bulkhead and a door, located to port of the companionway, which creates an aft cabin. This is now truly a live-aboard suite for children or guests, with twin berths, the unique head-and-vanity arrangement and impressive headroom throughout.
